I think the Ark is most likely in Ethiopia - a church they will not let anybody in to - I lost the article about that theory many moons ago, but it did sound quite possible ! All very fascinating ideas wherever they lead !
I have no idea what the truth is, and I had not heard that the Templars tried to steal it. Thing is ancient history is getting unraveled bit by bit so we can never poo-pooh any idea & be convinced we are right - tomorrow could make idiots of all of us ! I think the biggest truth I have learnt in reading ancient history is that they were people like us - they didn't have cell phones but they used what they did have to do remarkable things.
I’ll be blogging soon about a sci-fi novel that came out in France in the 1970s where the author portrayed Baphomet as an extra-terrestrial whose space ship had broken down and he asked the Templars for help. Fun story - not true of course.
